The 15th of November saw the 60th anniversary since the Central Deborah Gold Mine in Bendigo ceased mining operations. For many many years now it has been a must visit tourist destination when in Bendigo. The PMAV were invited to have a display at this event. Both the Bendigo and Ballarat branches joined forces to man the stand for the day.
That's Ronda and Lynnie from Bendigo and John and Brian from Ballarat below.

Well Australia Day has come and gone. Once again this year we joined the PMAV for the Melbourne Australia Day March and displays at the Domain Gardens. Another fantastic day out. The display with gold panning and coin detecting once again was a big hit with all ages.
The PMAV is to be congratulated for all the work they do to promote prospecting. If you prospect in Victoria you should seriously think about becoming a member. They are the reason we have access to so many areas to detect and prospect in our golden state. There is a link to their website on our links page.
The following photos show you how the day went.

Some of our group getting ready before the start.

Mark and Beth with Rita the PMAV's President in the specially printed Tee Shirts. We all looked great in the same tee shirts for the march.
Thousands of people lined Swanston street to wave and cheer at all the different and amazing entries in the march.

That's Andrew the PMAV's vice president with Dean a committee member, showing off some fantastic gold nuggets. The replicas are of course the work of Dean who runs Enviromental Creations(see our links page).

That's Dean and Mark at the display in the gardens. We spoke to many people from all walks of life about prospecting and the PMAV and handed out lots of relevant information.

The Panning area was full all day.
Bec and Beth from GPA are seen below helping Tama find a penny in the detecting area.

Recently, we hosted several Victorian Government Department heads and staff as well as The Hon. Bruce Atkinson the President of the Legislative Council in Victoria to a field day in Bendigo, organised by the Prospector's and Miner's Association of Victoria.
The day was to show the group about this great hobby of ours.
We showed them how our hobby is low impact on the environment, as well as being a very healthy activity for all ages.
They all had a go at detecting and some enjoyed it so much they didn't want to stop. Two of the seven were even lucky enough to find their first ever pieces of gold. Helping out during the day were the PMAV President and committee members, Bendigo Prospectors Club president and member, as well as Ronda, Beth and Mark from GPA.
Below is a picture of most of those involved in the very successful day.

The biggest news over the past months is of course the finding of the massive 177 ounce nugget found in the Ballarat region of Victoria.
The following link show's the original Youtube video of the nugget. This was posted on the same day as it was found.

The Youtube video link below shows one of our clients on a Halls Creek tour with a great find! Its certainly worth a look.

Our links page has information about the Associations throughout Australia that support our cause as prospectors and fossickers.
We recommend you have a look at their web sites and support them.
